Just stumbled upon your blog from Chris GuilleBeau’s site, http://chrisguillebeau.com/3×5, and was happy to see the link to that great commencement speech by DFW. I’ve read it before, as well as various other works by him, and while often tough to read, he shares unique insights on life that tough to find elsewhere. I bet its amazing living in Chiang Mai. I spent a week there in May while traveling through Thailand, and enjoyed every minute of it. Hope the tough times pass and things look better for you soon.

Zoe, I’m glad you’re doing what you need to do right now, in regards to your family, your work, etc. I know it can be difficult to find the right balance, or any focus at all, when bigger issues close in on you. Take care of yourself!

Just nails it. It’s a wonderfully clear and straightforward way to frame that notion.

“Brings to mind” was the best I could do in a quick tweet. What I felt reading “Diving Past Skin” was something like the genuine frisson of recognition you get when you’re walking down a crowded street in NYC and run smack into an old friend you haven’t seen in decades!

I’m glad to know you found the connection to DFW apt. I’m obsessed enough w/ his work that I sometimes worry it’s all I see wherever I look
